About the Rotary Club

Paul Harris founded rotary in Chicago in 1905. In 1922 it became Rotary International. Rotary is an organization of business and professional persons united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will and peace in the world through fellowship and understanding.

Objective of Rotary

To encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise.

The Four Way Test

Is it the truth?
Is it fair?
Will it build Goodwill and Better Friendships?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

This is the Rotary Guide for Rotarians to follow in all the things they think, say, and do.

Avenues of Service

This refers to the Four Avenues of Service that form the elements of Rotary.

Club Service

Involves all the activities necessary for Rotarians to perform to make their club function.

Community Service

This pertains to the activities, which Rotarians undertake to improve the quality of life in their community. It involves assistance to youth, the aged, handicapped and other less fortunate peoples.

Vocational Service

Is a description of the opportunity each Rotarian has to represent the dignity and utility on ones vocation to the other members of the club. This service includes Vocation leadership programs (Ryla and Rypen ), as well as vocational awareness programs for youth.

International Service

Describes the many programs and activities, which Rotarians undertake to advance international understanding, goodwill and peace. International Service projects are designed to meet humanitarian needs of people in many lands. Projects include work in Guatemala, Sierra Leone and Arusha East Africa.
