How to Become a Rotary Club MemberThe Rotary Club of Canmore is a place to meet like people and share your ideas for service, internationality, fellowship, development of goodwill and world understanding---the emphasis being on high ethical standards and concern for other people. The Club Services Avenue is responsible for programs at our weekly meetings as well as special events to bring the members together for fellowship. These events include Firesides, Rotary Recognition's, Christmas party and other special events for the members to meet. Virtually all membership in Rotary is based upon a "Classification". Basically a classification describes the distinct and recognized business or professional service, which the Rotarian renders to society. It should be understood that classifications are determined by activities or services to society rather than by the position held by an individual. There is also a classification for retired persons wishing to join Rotary. The bylaws of Rotary outline the membership procedure. A prospective member is approached by a Rotarian to become a member. This Rotarian then becomes the sponsor of the possible new member. The prospective new member is invited to a few Rotary meetings to start to understand the workings of the club. The sponsor then proposes the prospective new member. The possible new members name is submitted to the Rotary Executive for acceptance. For one week following the Executive meeting the prospective new members name is read out to the club membership for acceptance. The prospective new member is then welcomed to the club and joins in with all activities. Below is a selection of useful membership documentation provided to you in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format.
